About Bremsole

A good pair of boots is a quiet kind of promise — that the leather will soften with you, that the welt will hold, that you will reach for them on rainy mornings for the next decade. That promise is the whole of Bremsole.

Our story

Bremsole was founded in 2024 in Quy Hop by a small group of leatherworkers and shoemakers who had spent the previous decade making boots for other people’s labels. We loved the craft. We did not love watching honest, well-made footwear marked up to a price that put it out of reach of the carpenters, gardeners, nurses and weekend hikers who actually needed it. So we cut out the middle. Bremsole sells direct, prices for the person buying one good pair of boots a year, and writes a paper invoice with the cobbler’s name on the bottom. Heritage methods, modern channel, no theatre.

How we make our shoes

Every Bremsole pair is built on a Goodyear welt because the welt is the difference between a boot you resole and a boot you throw away. We start with full-grain bovine leather from a tannery in Hai Phong that has been working oils into hide for three generations. The leather is hand-cut on a clicking press, glued, stitched, then welted with linen thread waxed in our own shop. The insole is vegetable-tanned for the foot to mould to; the midsole is a single sheet of leather; the outsole is rubber compounded for traction on wet stone. Every pair gets twelve hours of curing time between the welt stitch and the final sole press — a step bigger factories skip and your foot will eventually feel.

Our promise to you

Four commitments, written down so we can be held to them:

Sized correctly

Our last is built around a real working foot — slightly roomier through the toe-box than a dress shoe. Every product page lists the true interior length in centimetres.

Comfortable from the first walk

A welt does need a few miles to settle, but a Bremsole pair should not blister you on day one. If it does, send it back.

Real reviews from real owners

Every review on this site is from a verified buyer. We publish the critical ones. They are where the next pair gets better.

Fair returns, and a resole programme

Thirty days for a return or size swap on unworn pairs, and a flat-fee resole service for any pair you have ever bought from us. Take care of the upper and the boots come home.

Meet the team

Bremsole is run out of a workshop on the edge of Quy Hop by an 8-person team — a master cobbler, two welters, a leather buyer, a finishing-and-polish lead, and a small customer-care desk reachable in Vietnamese and English. The cobblers rotate through every station. The boots that arrive at your door were built by people who could tell you, by hand-feel, which hide they came from.

If you are buying boots that you intend to keep, we are interested in being your shoemaker. The contact details below reach a real human during business hours.
